According to the Digest`s Editorial office opinion, the main events of the August 2019 in Russian pharmaceutical industry are:
- more than 700 medicines disappeared from Russian pharmacies shelves. Analysts recorded a drop in medicines sales for the first time since the 2008 crisis;
- the Russian Ministry of health explained the failure of public procurement of vital drugs;
- the development of new antibiotics is lagging behind the spread of antibiotic resistance;
- GSK and Pfizer combined OTC (over-the-counter) businesses;
- Russian professional pharmaceutical associations sent to the Parliament a proposal to change the Tax code.
